Exploit captures first South Korean premiership

Exploit survived a late charge from Menifee to win the South Korean sires’ premiership for 2011.

Exploit (USA) won the title for the first time with his chief earner Champion Belt winning 6 races in 12 starts.  The 15 year-old stallion had more runners than any other sire in the country and sired the winners of AUD 2,822,700.

Fellow USA bred sires Menifee (AUD 2,818,010) and Vicar (AUD 2,745,640) finished second and third respectively in what was the closest race in years.

Exploit initially stood at Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky and was set for a move to Florida in 2005 before the South Koreans stepped in.  He had been a G2 winner of the 1998 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes and 1999 San Vicente Stakes for owners Bob and Beverly Lewis.

Exploit (Storm Cat – My Turbulent Miss by My Dad George) is a younger half-brother to Prized (Kris S) who shuttled to NZ and sired the Australian G1 winners Prized Gem (QTC Brisbane Cup) and Sale Of Century (STC Rosehill Guineas).

The Korean Racing Authority reported five registered stallions died last year – Yankee Victor (USA), Ft. Stockton (USA), The Groom Is Red (USA), Tayasu Meadow (Jpn) and Air Smap (Ire).
