Explosive sprinter at Blue Gum Farm

More Than Ready newcomer War has arrived at Blue Gum Farm for his first book in Euroa.

“He’s a magnificent individual,” Blue Gum’s Philip Campbell said.  “We are very excited about his stallion prospects.”

War (More Than Ready – Deedra by Zabeel) was trained by Gai Waterhouse and showed terrific talent winning the G3 Up and Coming Stakes (1300m) at Warwick Farm.  “His turn of foot was explosive,” jockey Tommy Berry claimed.  “He controls his races.”

Waterhouse was equally impressed.  “War is a very good horse in the making,” she said before an injury forced the colt into a premature retirement.

After paying $500,000 for War at the 2012 Inglis Easter Sale, renowned judge James Bester considered him as good a looking a yearling as he had ever bought.  “He’s a perfect marriage of speed, precocity and athleticism – one of the best two year-old of his generation – and he was good enough to progress to win a high-quality race at three.”

War’s fee has been set at $8,800 (inc gst).  “He’s available for inspection,” Campbell said.  “Everyone who has seen him so far has been hugely impressed.”
