Former Coolmore Stud shuttler Fasliyev has died at the Yushun Stallion Stud in Japan. He was 16.
Fasliyev (Nureyev – Mr. P’s Princess by Mr. Prospector) had been based in Hokkaido since 2007. He had originally retired to Coolmore Stud’s Irish headquarters in 2000 after an undefeated juvenile campaign topped by G1 victories in the Prix Morny and Phoenix Stakes.
There were 8 stakes winners from his first Irish-bred crop but the black-type began to fade and, at the time of his death, it had reached 32.
Fasliyev (USA) covered 685 mares during five seasons in Australia at fees ranging between $22,000 and $33,000. He sired 251 winners down here but not one of them was good enough to win a Group race.
