Fastnet Rock’s days as a shuttle sire appear to be numbered after he didn’t return to Coolmore Stud’s Irish headquarters this year.
Australia’s champion sire in 2011-12 hasn’t fired to the same extent in Europe.
Fastnet Rock sired 4 juvenile winners in UK-Ireland from his first northern crop in 2013. They returned as three year-olds last year and included the black-type winners Fascinating Rock (G3 Ballysax Stakes), Palace (LR Cairn Rouge Stakes) & Table Rock (LR Sir Henry Cecil Stakes).
His 2014 European second-crop two year-olds comprised 9 juvenile winners from 35 starters in UK-Ireland topped by Qualify (G3 Weld Park Stakes).
Racing Post reports Fastnet Rock covered 85 mares at Coolmore Ireland last year – less than half his book of 193 mares in 2013.
