Vendors with Fastnet Rock yearlings were celebrating after Day 1 of the Inglis Easter yearling sale on Tuesday. Coolmore Stud’s young gun had 13 lots average over $284,000 off a $75,000 service fee in 2008.
Fastnet Rock’s leader was the filly from Rash Promise that made $600,000. She was offered by Widden Stud as agent for Fig Tree Thoroughbreds.
Coolmore Stud champion Encosta de Lago had 14 yearlings average $304,000 on Day 1 headed by Willow Park’s filly from Satinka. The mare was a G2 winner of the NZ Eight Carat Classic and her first foal was purchased by Ingham Racing for $690,00.
The Encosta de Lago yearlings to come include the colt from Pinezero (Lot 405). His dam was a Melbourne stakes winner and Coolmore’s Shane McGrath rated the colt one of the best in the stud’s line-up on Thursday.
McGrath is also keen on the Dylan Thomas filly from Golden Bridge (Lot 267) that sells on Wednesday afternoon. She is a half-sister to New Zealand G1 winner Arlingtonboulevard (Spinning World).
“She has a beautiful action,” McGrath noted. “Dylan Thomas is already off the mark with his first winner in Ireland and Aidan O’Brien is very keen on his youngsters at Ballydoyle.”
