Stewart is bloodstock advisor to Musk Creek owner David Kobritz and they sold him to Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott for $80,000 at this year’s Gold Coast Magic Millions. “He showed himself a lovely, big, strong type that would be well-placed down the straight,” Waterhouse said. “I love winning at the carnival and that will have him ready for the Maribyrnong Plate.”
Tim Stewart & Associates had bought Magnus mare Maglissa carrying Unite And Conquer for $180,000 at the 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale. She is a Caulfield-winning daughter of Gai’s G1 Flight Stakes winner Danglissa and her So You Think yearling colt continues to grow in value down on the Mornington peninsula.
Randwick Bloodstock began the recent winning run for FBAA when Meryl was successful in the G3 Scarborough Stakes at Moonee Valley. The 3yo filly by Epaulette was sourced by RBA’s Brett Howard for $170,000 at the 2017 Gold Coast Magic Millions and it was her second Group 3 following the 2017 B J McLachlan Stakes at Doomben.
Meryl races for a ladies syndicate managed by Christine Cook and she’s from a sister to G3 VRC Gilgai Stakes winner Cosmic Strike.
JJ Gordon Bloodstock graduate Mahamedeis will be set for feature staying races after winning the Magnum Opus Partners Hcp (1600m) at Moonee Valley last Friday.
Trainer Nick Ryan will nominate the Magnus gelding for the Coongy Hcp at Caulfield on October 20 and Bendigo Cup on October 31. “He’s won 3 from 4 second-up and we were confident after a gallop here on Monday morning,” Ryan said. “The plan was to race on the speed and it was a peach of ride by James (Winks).”

Hinyuen Swiftness (Duke Of Marmalade) won for the fourth time in the Shantou Hcp (1400m) at Sha Tin. Mee’s Pinhook Bloodstock bought him privately from clients of Phillip Stokes following a LR Poseidon Stakes victory at Flemington.
Mee followed up with promising Snitzel colt Mansa Musa at Warwick Farm last Wednesday. The Gerald Ryan-prepared 3yo was a $75,000 buy as a foal at the 2016 Inglis Sydney Weanling & Broodmare Sale.
In Perth, John Chalmers landed his latest winner for influential owners Bob and Sandra Peters when Leading Girl (NZ) scored for the second time in as many starts on Saturday.
Leading Girl will be set for 3yo features at the Ascot carnival after a half-length victory in the David Grays Aglink Plate (1400m) at Belmont.
Chalmers paid $100,000 for the Reliable Man filly from Bradbury Park at the 2017 NZB Karaka Sale. She is a half-sister to the Mossman stars Hoofit (G3 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes) and Crack Me Up (G2 Villiers Stakes).
Statue of Liberty gelding Battle Storm is another unbeaten galloper that carries the couple’s cerise and white colours. A $100,000 buy for Belmont Bloodstock agent Damon Gabbedy at the 2016 Inglis Ready To Race Sale, he was last seen winning the Amelia Park Hcp (1000m) at Belmont.
Battle Storm is from a half-sister to G1 Railway Stakes winner M’Lady’s Jewel.
