Trainer Danny O’Brien predicted a bright future for Ferocity filly Frenetica after she made it back to back wins at Sandown on Wednesday.
Frenetica (3f Ferocity – All Legs by Jade Robbery) had been runner-up when resuming from a spell in September before breaking through at Ballarat last month. The grey filly hit the front a long way from home yesterday and found plenty over the concluding stages to win by a short neck.
O’Brien trained Frenetica’s sire Ferocity during a short but successful racing career and bought the filly from his first crop at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions. She was part of the Oaklands Stud draft and made $80,000.
“She’s going well and will keep improving,” O’Brien said. “We will push on with her between now and Christmas and that should give us something to work with in the autumn.”
O’Brien has a high opinion of Ferocity and his ability to sire winners after training him to a G2 victory in the 2005 Ascot Vale Stakes at Flemington.
Frenetica is the second winner for unraced mare All Legs following Iglesia filly Eau De Dali. All Legs is a half-sister Caulfield stakes winner Given (Canny Lad). She has yearling filly by Ferocity and foaled another filly by the Oaklands resident in September.
