Street Cry stallion Shocking has taken to his new duties at Rich Hill Stud like a seasoned professional. He has already served 30 mares and the first two covered returned positive scans over the weekend.
A G1 winner of the VRC Melbourne and Australian Cups, Shocking is on target to serve a quality book of 130 mares this spring.
Among his mares will be the G2 Waikato Gold Cup winner Passchendaele, Listed Sunline Vase winner Mill Duckie and 8 time sprint winner Bankside Belle.
The dams of G1 winners Jokers Wild, Blue Heaven and Herculian Prince also feature in Shocking’s debut book. He is standing at Rich Hill Stud at a fee of $NZ12,000 (plus gst) with a live foal guarantee.
The Shocking PPT reports were announced just hours after Rich Hill bred gelding Kincaple won the LR Kalgoorlie Cup. The Pentire stayer will now be set for the G2 Perth Cup.
Rich Hill has also been following the progress of its shuttle sire Sir Percy in Europe. His first-crop two year-olds have now won 11 races, the latest being Cavaleiro who scored for the second time over 1600m at Newbury on Friday.
Cavaleiro is trained by Marcus Tregoning for owner Guy Brook and was a 78,000gns buy at the Tattersalls yearling sale in October 2010.
Tregoning prepared Sir Percy to an English Derby triumph in 2006 and his Newbury winner holds an entry for the 2012 Epsom classic. Cavaleiro is closely related to G2 Park Hill Stakes winner Ranin (Unfuwain)
