Fiddler falls in at Wanganui

Champion New Zealand 2YO Keeninsky sired his initial black-type winner when Fiddler scored an all-the-way victory in the Listed Wanganui Guineas on Saturday.

Fiddler (3g Keeninsky – Adonia by Brigade Of Guards) fell in to score by a nose from the favourite Jimmy Choux (Thorn Park).  Third home was last season’s 2YO Free Handicap leader Cellarmaster (Dubawi).

Fiddler is trained at Matamata by Tony Gillies for owner-breeder Ron Thompson.  He is from Adonia who was a Listed winner of the Foxbridge Plate at Te Rapa for Gillies and Thompson in 1997.  The mare has already foaled winners by O’Reilly (Maloney, Gilhooley & Iamzeus) and by Hunza Court (Regal Court).

Keeninsky (Stravinsky) was a G1 winner of the Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes and WRC Telegraph Hcp.  His first crop are three year-olds and, to date, he has sired 3 winners from 16 starters.

Keeninsky stands at The Oaks Stud for a $4,000 fee alongside Roc De Cambes, Sakhee’s Secret, Bachelor Duke, Spartacus and Darci Brahma.
