Fillydelphia all Quality

Trainer Rob Heathcote has some unfinished business during the summer carnival with Fillydelphia before giving the mare her chance to win the G1 Winter Stakes at Eagle Farm next year.

Fillydelphia made it three wins from her past four starts when she easily accounted for the Listed Brisbane Handicap (1630m) field at Doomben on Saturday.

Fillydelphia (4m Bianconi – Edel Vanessa by Encosta De Lago) strolled to an easy win over her stablemate Humma.  “She’s a quality mare and put them to the sword out there today,” Heathcote said.  “The Recognition Stakes and Bernborough Hcp are her goals now.

“She won the Rough Habit during the winter carnival but I don’t think she’s a stayer.  I’m going to keep her to a mile and the Winter Stakes is her go next year.”

Jockey Jim Byrne was impressed with the mare’s victory which took her record to 8 wins from 20 starts.  “She’s a real push button type and was quite impressive,” he said.  “She’s got a devastating 300 metres sprint.”

Fillydelphia was bred by Queensland based Frank Wolber.  She is by Bianconi and her dam Edel Vanessa foaled a colt by the Swettenham stallion in September.

Bianconi stands at Swettenham Stud for an advertised fee of $8,500 (inc gst).
