Eagle Park Stud sire Byblos has his first Australian yearlings catalogued for the Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale starting next Wednesday.
Byblos (Chi) is a well credentialed G1 winning son of champion sire of sires Hussonet. He was imported to Australia after standing several seasons at stud in Chile where his progeny have been a revelation. He boasts 12 winners and 2 placegetters from 14 starters who, between them, have won 35 races.
Byblos won from 1200m to 1600m as a 2YO before rising to the top of the 3YO ranks in winning the G1 Casino Municipal de Vina del Mar in Chile over 1900m (on turf) where he defeated champion mare Golden Rule.
Byblos is from the Worldwatch mare Brittany’s Dream. She was a stakes winner of four races and she has also produced the Listed-winning full-sister to Byblos in Perfect Match.
Worldwatch (Nijinsky) is a Champion broodmare sire, particularly when crossed with Hussonet, the combination having produced 90% winners-to-runners.
Byblos is represented by 8 of his first Australian yearlings at the Magic Millions and all are BOBS qualified. Among the highlights is the colt from Gala Ball (Lot 1015). He is a half-brother to three winners including smart Melbourne sprinter Cointreau Ball (Snippets). Additionally, he’s also a three-quarter brother to Hussonet’s multiple South African winner Sonic Barrier.
