First filly for Zenyatta

Iconic mare Zenyatta foaled a filly by War Front on Easter Sunday.  The new arrival at Lane’s End Farm is her first daughter following colts by Bernardini and Tapit.

War Front (Danzig) is one of the world’s hottest stallions.  He has sired European standout Declaration of War plus star gallopers The Factor, Data Link, Summer Soiree, Departing, Lines of Battle, War Command and Giovanni Boldini.

Claiborne Farm stands War Front in Kentucky for a fee of $150,000.

Now a 10 year-old, Zenyatta won her first 19 races in a row with trademark come-from-behind finishes.  She bowed out with a narrow loss to Blame in the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Voted the 2010 Horse of the Year, Zenyatta also earned her third consecutive Eclipse Award as champion older mare that season.  The daughter of Street Cry remains North America’s richest racemare with earnings of $7.30 million.

Zenyatta began her broodmare career by visiting Bernardini in 2011.  The resulting colt Cozmic One was born in March 2012 and is currently in training in Florida.

Bred back to Tapit, Zenyatta delivered a chestnut colt in April 2013.  Owner-breeder Jerry Moss has named him Ziconic.
