The first foal by Lynward Park shuttler Alfred Nobel has arrived at Lodge Park Stud in Ireland.

“He’s a really good strong colt with plenty of quality and is marked very much like his sire,” Co Kilkenny based studmaster Damian Burns said.  “We bred Alfred Nobel and Cafe Creme and their dams and grand dams.”

The youngster is from the Catrail mare Café Crème who is a half-sister to G1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Seazun (Zieten).  Her three winners to date have been by Intikhab, Clodovil and Verglas.

“Alfred Nobel was one of the fastest horses that we’ve ever bred,” Burns added.  “Being such a fast and early maturing son of Danehill Dancer makes him an ideal stallion for the commercial market.”

Alfred Nobel was a 220,000gns buy for Coolmore at the 2008 Tattersalls October yearling sale.  He repaid them with a G1 victory in the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh carrying the same purple and white striped silks as Coolmore’s current star So You Think.

Lynward Park owner Ted van Heemst secured Alfred Nobel’s southern standing rights after buying a 50% share from Coolmore last year.  He is from the immediate family of Darley’s English Derby winner New Approach.
