The Aga Khan’s exceptional mare Zarkava gave birth to her first foal in Ireland on Saturday. The new arrival is a grey filly by Gilltown Stud stallion Dalakhani.
“She is a lovely individual,” studmaster Pat Downes commented. “She is correct, strong and full of quality. It was a straightforward delivery and is a good size for a first foal.”
Zarkava confirmed herself as one of the best fillies of recent times by remaining unbeaten in seven races, five at Group 1 level, including the French 1000 Guineas, French Oaks and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
Zarkava (Zamindar) is set to be covered by Cape Cross world-beater Sea The Stars this year.
