Vinery stallion Onemorenomore sired his first stakes winner when Onemorezeta bounced off the canvas to land the LR Gucci Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on Thursday.
Onemorezeta completed a hat-trick after wins at Muswellbrook and Warwick Farm. “She’s come a long way in a short time, she’s a real improving filly and there is a lot of upside still in her,” trainer Kris Lees said. “She was very green at Warwick Farm so it was a risk bringing her down here.”
The NSW visitor is a homebred for Bob Hannan who has been racing winners with the Kris and the late Max Lees since the 1970s.
Onemorezeta (3f Onemorenomore – Little Zeta by Commands) proved she was more than capable of matching of it with some of the nation’s speediest fillies clocking 63.61s down the straight. “She’s a brave little filly,” winning jockey Damien Oliver said. “She managed to wear down Eloping who is very hard to get past. She’s still a little bit wayward but it’s very early in her career and I think she’s got a bright future.”
Onemorezeta became the fifth first crop winner for Onemorenomore this week. There could be more black-type ahead when his promising Perth galloper Tonto starts in the LR Fairetha Stakes on Saturday.
And across the Tasman, Onemorenomore filly Purcentage is a likely starter in the G1 NZ One Thousand Guineas at Riccarton on November 15.
Onemorenomore (Red Ransom) is standing at Vinery for a $13,200 (inc gst) fee this year.
