Darley sire Albrecht moved off the mark at stud when the James Cummings-trained 2yo colt Sanglier won at Wyong on Saturday.
Sanglier had been placed in the LR Merson-Cooper Stakes at Sandown in November and started at the surprisingly good price of $6 in the Servers Australia Maiden (1000m). Sitting on the speed set by Celosia (I Am Invincible), he responded in the straight to score by three-quarters of a length from Let Me Sleep On It (Manhattan Rain).
Sanglier is a Darley homebred and is the final foal of G2 Emancipation Stakes placegetter More Haste (Brief Truce). She foaled several winners including Proverb (G3 Gunsynd Classic).
Albrecht (Redoute’s Choice) won the G3 Up And Coming Stakes and stood for a fee of $7,700 (inc gst) last year.
