Newhaven Park freshman Delago Deluxe sired his first winner at Kembla Grange on Saturday.
His filly Delago Thunder powered home on debut to claim the Single Gaze Maiden Plate (1000m) by a short-head. The David Payne trained youngster cost $150,000 at the 2016 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA) agent Julian Blaxland was acting for leading owner Marcus Jooste who raced Delago Deluxe to Group 1 victories in the 2011 Gold Medallion and 2012 Golden Horse Casino Sprint in South Africa.
Jooste had purchased Delago Deluxe (Encosta de Lago) from Baramul Stud for $550,000 at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions. He stands for an $11,000 (inc gst) fee at Newhaven Park.
Delago Thunder is the first foal of Alezan Thunder (Written Tycoon) who won in Melbourne & Adelaide and was stakes-placed in the 2012 Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast.
