First winner by Escapism

I Am Ruben broke a frustrating run of outs to post the first win for former Victorian sire Escapism on Saturday.

Escapism (Stratum) covered a dozen mares in three seasons at Marcus Oldham College in Geelong before transferring to China in October 2014.

I Am Ruben is trained by Heath Connors and had been placed 7 times before the breakthrough in the Rabbie Burns Maiden Plate (1400m) at Camperdown.  He’s the second winner from Black Espresso (Esperero) who won at Werribee for Connors before finishing fourth to Gallant Guru in the 2005 Listed Geelong Classic.  She has a 2yo colt by Written Tycoon.

Escapism was bred by Bill Cockram at Glentree Downs in Modewarre and retired unraced after selling for $50,000 at the 2009 Melbourne Premier.
