Melbourne welter performer Quick Fix sired his first winner at Stony Creek on Monday.
His chestnut gelding Quick Chevelle prevailed by a half-neck in the Betfair Maiden Plate (1100m). The winner took a rails run under Jarrod Todd to beat the favourites Dangerous Spin and Exemplary.
Quick Chevelle (5g Quick Fix – Another Identity by Gold Carat) didn’t face the starter until his was a spring five year-old. He broke through fourth time out for owner-breeder Ron Smith who also trains him at Cranbourne.
Quick Fix (Fixed Flush) began his career in Queensland winning 7 races at Doomben and Ipswich before relocating south for welter wins at Flemington, Moonee Valley and Mornington. A stud career was put on hold while he competed on the showjumping and equestrian circuit where he became a successful member of the Australian team.
Retiring to Woodside Park in 2003, he only sired 24 foals before dropping off the Australian Stud Book radar in 2008.
