First winner by Jimmy Creed

Spendthrift Australia shuttler Jimmy Creed (USA) sired his first winner on Wednesday when Admiral Jimmy won by four lengths on debut in a $50,000 Gulfstream Park juvenile over 900m.

Admiral Jimmy (2c Jimmy Creed – Zayanna by Bernardini) equalled the track record of 51.07s which was set by Group winning sprinter Awesome Banner in 2015.  Trained by Todd Pletcher, the bay colt broke well and stalked the pace into the turn before moving to the lead in the stretch and drawing clear under jockey Edgard Zayas.

Bred and owned by Siena Farms, Admiral Jimmy is a half-brother to Woodbine My Dear 2YO Stakes winner Velvet Mood (Lonhro).  Their dam Zayanna is a half sister stakes winners Heavenly Ransom (Red Ransom), Dilemma (Grand Slam) and Capitano (Belong To Me).

Capitano retired to stand at Fox Tale Thoroughbreds and the Pennsylvania stud is a strong supporter of Spendthrift.

Jimmy Creed (Distorted Humor) shuttles between Spendthrift’s Kentucky base and Australian operation in Victoria where he stands for $7,700 on a “Breed Secure” Fee.  He was a Group 1 winner of the Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita and his first Kentucky-bred crop have sold to $320,000 at the 2YO Sales in the USA this year.
