First winner by Jungle Ruler

Bombora Downs stallion Jungle Ruler opened his account at stud on Monday when grey filly Jungle Queen posted an on-pace victory the EMPD Maiden Plate (1100m) at Echuca.

The Chris Davis-trained 3yo had won a Tatura trial in August but drifted from $16 to $31 on debut.  She shadowed longshot leader Hell Of A Tail (Shellscrape) into the straight and then took over to score by three-quarters of a length.

Jungle Queen (3f Jungle Ruler – Tinge Of Gold by Made Of Gold) is a home-bred for Nigel and Meredith Berry.  Her dam won four races around the South Australian and Victorian provincials for trainer Mark Minervini and was later sold to the Illowra Stud owners for $5,000 at the 2009 Inglis August Sale at Oaklands.

Jungle Ruler (Lion Hunter) could never be called a ‘cotton-wool’ galloper having raced 115 times for 20 wins and $850,000.  He stands for a $2,750 service fee at Bombora Downs on the Mornington peninsula.
