Aimalac Millie scored a first-up win at Grafton on Wednesday and it was also a first for her sire More Than Great.
The filly is trained locally by Paddy Cunningham and is a homebred for Aimalac Stud owner Jim Lloyd. She sat midfield and powered home to score by four lengths under Priscilla Schmidt.
Aimalac Millie is the second winner from Just Like Sam (Greenlander) and the mare foaled another filly by More Than Great last year. The nearest black-type in her pedigree goes back three generations to 1984 BTC Classic winner Bonne Princess.
More Than Great is a stakes winning son of champion sire More Than Ready and he stands 50km north of Grafton at Ellangowan. He defeated So You Think in the 2009 Ming Dynasty Quality and was also runner-up to Shoot Out in the 2010 Royal Sovereign Stakes.
Studmaster Brian Ensbey stands More Than Great for a $1,100 (inc gst) service fee.
