Hollymount Stud stallion Related launched his stud career on a winning note with smart juvenile Leica Comet at Bathurst on Friday.

Leica Comet (2c Related – Hollymount Miss by Bluebird) is part-owned and prepared by Hawkesbury trainer John Higgins.  The colt cost $7,500 at the 2013 Inglis June Classic yearling sale and he repaid that second-up with a half-length victory in the Hothams Sand Soil & Gravel Hcp (1100m).

His dam Hollymount Miss won races at Kembla Grange (2) and Nowra for trainer Gwenda Markwell and Hollymount Stud owner Matthew Sandblom.

Related is based at Jerrara which is just a few kilometres inland from Kiama.  The 8 year-old is a son of former Darley shuttler Elusive Quality and is from a daughter of G3 AJC Gimcrack Stakes winner Kincay (Marscay).

Bred and raced by Bart Cummings, he was a Listed winner of the 2009 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) and was also a certainty beaten when a nose second to Krupt in the G2 Todman Stakes.

Sandblom stands Related for a $1,100 (inc gst) service fee.
