Queensland stallion Sudden Clang moved off the mark at stud when his first foal Pricklethorp won at Bundaberg on Saturday.
Pricklethorp (3g Sudden Clang – Realt by Reenact) bolted in by three lengths on debut in the Perfection Fresh Maiden Plate (1212m). He’s a homebred for Geoff Mooney and is trained locally by Laura Cronan.
Mooney stands Sudden Clang at Waverley Stud in Mt Perry. “He lost an eye as a yearling and didn’t race,” he said. “I put him over my own mares and a few from outside clients.”
Sudden Clang is a son of G1 Golden Slipper sire Clang and his dam Dokic (Kenvain) won four races around the Queensland provincials for trainer Tony Sears and Gainsborough Lodge. His second-dam is a three-quarter sister to Lindsay Park’s Group 1 star Planet Ruler.
Mooney can be contacted for further enquiries on 0488 415 632.
