Gooree stallion Swift Alliance sired his first winner at the Mudgee Cup meeting on Friday.
The aptly named First Alliance made the breakthrough as a $2.80 favourite in the Hamilton Island Hcp (1200m). He was perfectly placed by Kathy O’Hara in transit to score by over a length from Top Magic (Magic Albert) and Luckier (Ready’s Image).
First Alliance (3g Swift Alliance – Wonderer by End Sweep) was racing first-up for trainer David Vandyke after placings at Lismore, Scone and Bathurst last season. His dam was a Listed winner of the 2006 AJC Wenona Girl Stakes and threw earlier winners by Don Eduardo and Northern Meteor (2).
Gooree sold Wonderer to Eliza Park International in 2013 and she has a yearling colt by Statue Of Liberty.
Swift Alliance (Don Eduardo) was trained by Gai Waterhouse to win Group 3 sprints at Rosehill (Sebring Stakes) and Flemington (Hong Kong Plate) carrying Gooree’s red and black striped silks.
He served a handful of mares at Gooree straight off the track in the spring of 2011 before Eduardo Cojuangco transferred him to Grafton based Akaroa Thoroughbreds for three books. He returned to Gooree earlier this year and stands for a $3,300 (inc gst) service fee.
