Unencumbered has sired his first winner just weeks after losing a battle with chondritis at Three Bridges Thoroughbreds in Victoria.

Expedius opened his account in the EMPD 2YO Plate (1209m) at Echuca on Sunday.  Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, he was racing second-up since being gelded earlier this season.

Three Bridges sold him for $60,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions National Foal Sale.  His dam Denarii (Dehere) is a three-quarter sister to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Mirror Mirror.  She has a yearling filly by Unencumbered and a filly on the ground by Snitzel.

Denarii was also among the 102 mares covered by Unencumbered in his last book at Three Bridges in 2017.
