First winner by Wilful Default

Meringo Stud sire Wilful Default moved off the mark with his first winner at the Sapphire Coast on Boxing Day.

Viva Lavino made the breakthrough at her fifth start in the Heffernan Lending Solutions Hcp (1600m).  She won by a nose for part-owner and trainer Paul Murray.

Wilful Default was the first locally-conceived son of champion sire Dubawi to stand in Australia when he retired to Meringo Stud in Moruya.  He was also prepared by Murray to win a Kembla Grange maiden before bleeding in his 6th and final start.

Viva Lavino is the first foal of See The Universe (Universal Prince) and the mare foaled another Wilful Default filly in October.

Wilful Default is a half-brother to sprinting legend Takeover Target and G2 J J Liston Stakes winner Predatory Pricer.  Meringo Stud owner Tony Hartnell stands him for an $1,100 service fee.
