First winner by Zoustar

Talented filly Sunlight has signed off the first win for Zoustar on the Gold Coast.

Sunlight led all the way in Saturday’s Early Bird Magic Millions Hcp (900m) to book her place in the $2.50 million Magic Millions Classic on January 13.  She clocked 50.42s in a four-length demolition that saw her Magic Millions price tumble into $8 behind $3.50 favourite Jonker.

Trainer Tony McEvoy indicated Sunlight would run again over 1100m on January 6, a week before the big feature.  “She’s a smart filly but we needed more money to get into the race and now we’ve got it,” he said.  “It is great to be in Queensland with a smart filly like this one.”

Sunlight, who had been placed in the LR Maribyrnong Trial in October, is the third winner from former speedy filly Solar Charged (G3 Kindergarten Stakes).  A $300,000 Magic Millions purchase from Widden Stud, she runs for a ladies syndicate after being knocked down to Aquis Farm, McEvoy Mitchell Racing and Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA)

Zoustar (Northern Meteor) alternates between Widden and Woodside Park in Victoria.  The colt with film-star looks and ability to match won the G1 Golden Rose, G1 Coolmore Stakes and G2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes.

Widden Stud will offer the full sister to Sunlight as Lot 330 at the 2018 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
