It’s been a busy week for Chatswood Stud owner Greg Willis.

Bookings have been brisk for his incoming sire Reward For Effort and the good news continued when Chatswood shuttler Amadeus Wolf got off to quick start with his first winner in England.

Hamza (2c Amadeus Wolf – Lady Shanghai by Alhaarth) scored an all-the-way victory on debut in the Faster Greener Central Taxis EBF Maiden Stakes (1000m) at Musselburgh.

Hamza (Ire) is trained by Kevin Ryan for Qatar based owner Mubarak Al Naimi.  The colt cost 25,000 pounds at the Doncaster Bloodstock yearling sale in August 2010.

Ryan also prepared Amadeus Wolf to a Group 1 victory in the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket.  “Hamza is a smashing horse,” Ryan said after the colt won by three lengths.  “He has a great attitude and is a real professional.  I’m sure he will develop and go on to better things.”

Hamza is from a half-sister to high-class Godolphin sprinter Dandy Man who was a G3 winner of the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket.  Like Amadeus Wolf, he is by Danehill sire Mozart.

Amadeus Wolf served his first Victorian book at Chatswood last spring and Willis is looking forward to having him back from the Irish National Stud.  “We had been hearing about how well his progeny had been trialling.  He’s the favourite to become Europe’s leading first season sire this year.”

Willis is also excited about Chatswood newcomer Reward For Effort.  The G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner arrived at the Seymour nursery last week.  “He is a lovely horse with a big jowl and an impressive hindquarter,” Willis said.  “I think we priced him right at $11,000.”

Willis had 25 shares on offer for the son of Exceed And Excel and 16 of them were snapped up by the weekend.
