Kilto Park stallion Champions Gallery sired his first winner at Ipswich on Friday.

The Mick Mair trained filly Tongue Of Fire made the breakthrough at her sixth start in the Cassandra Schmidt Apprentice Of The Year Plate (1200m).

Tongue Of Fire (3f Champions Gallery – Sydney Owner by Octagonal) is a homebred for Kilto Park owner Neville Bell.  Her dam won races at Hawkesbury and Canterbury before an unplaced effort in the 2005 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield

Sydney Owner was then shipped off-shore but didn’t win in 10 starts while based in Hong Kong.  She is a three-quarter sister to G2 Light Fingers Stakes winner Obsequious (Lonhro).

Champions Gallery (GB) was also exported to Hong Kong after wins at Salisbury, Ascot and Beverley.  “He was Group 1 placed in the 2007 Hong Kong Derby but suffered a tendon injury and was sent to Australia for rehabilitation,” Bell said.  “He eventually went back into work with Tony Vasil but was retired after aggravating the tendon injury.”

Champions Gallery was the first son of Dansili to stand in Australia and he is owned in the same interests as Widden sire Lucky Owners.
