Danehill freshman Longhorn claimed his first winner when Craiglea Mac finally broke through at Emerald on Saturday.
Craiglea Mac (2g Longhorn – Raw Diamond by Sanction) has been a busy beaver this season having faced the starter at least once every month since being placed in a Doomben trial last September!
The Gympie based gelding was racing for the 15th time in the C D Adams Real Estate Maiden Hcp (1000m) at Emerald. He is a homebred for Craiglea Stud owners Stan and Marilyn Johnson and collected $6,800 in QTIS prizemoney and bonuses.
Longhorn was raced by Ray Dart and won twice at the Gold Coast before the Doomben trainer retired him to Craiglea in 2007. He got a start at stud being a brother to Danehill’s Golden Slipper winning stallion Catbird.
Craiglea Mac’s dam Raw Diamond won four races up to 1000m at Ipswich (3) and Kilcoy. Her only other foal to race is Rockhampton winner Craiglea Rawie (Waterford Road). The mare died last November.
Craiglea residents Garrison Savannah and Top Echelon sired the Capricorna 2YO and 3YO Classic winners at Rockingham on Thursday.
