First winner for Declaration Of War

Declarationoflove won readily at Windsor on Monday to break the ice for former Coolmore Stud shuttler Declaration Of War.

He chased the front-runners before pushing firmly into the lead inside final furlong to score by over a length.  The Tom Clover-trained colt had been beaten a length and change in two prior starts at Brighton and Windsor in April.

Declarationoflove (2c Declarationoflove – Mary’s Daughter by Royal Applause) was bought by Badgers Bloodstock for €28,000 at the 2016 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale.  His dam is out of a winning half-sister to Champion Group 1 Filly Attraction.

Declaration Of War (War Front) was unbeaten as a two-year-old in France before joining Aidan O’Brien for Group 1 victories in the Queen Anne Stakes and Juddmonte International.

He retired to Coolmore’s Irish headquarters before transferring their Kentucky base at Ashford Stud where he stands for a $35,000 fee.  He covered two books at Coolmore’s Hunter Valley farm in 2014 and 2015.
