First winner for October Sky

Irish-bred Danehill stallion October Sky sired his first winner in Queensland on Saturday.

Dragon Town (4g October Sky – Garmoosha by El Moxie) made the breakthrough in the Amalgamated Pest Control Maiden (1100m) at Longreach.  He’s from a half-sister to the dam of G3 Guy Walter Stakes winner Danesiri and is trained by Dennis O’Brien at Blackall.

October Sky was raced by Michael Tabor and placed three times from four starts in Ireland.  After arriving in Australia in November 2006, he won twice in Brisbane for a syndicate that included Kevin O’Keefe of MVO Industries and Kevin Dixon of Racetree.

October Sky retired to Glen Avon Lodge for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee before moving to Blue Hills Thoroughbreds in Quinalow.  He’s a half-brother to G1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Again and their dam Cumbres (Kahyasi) is a half-sister to Tabor’s Group 1 racehorse and sire Montjeu.
