Five-timer for Peters at Ascot

In-form Perth owner-breeder Bob Peters went to another level with five winners at Ascot on Saturday.

Peters is marshalling a strong team for the summer carnival led by G1 Railway Stakes – G1 Kingston Town Classic candidates Delicacy, Disposition and Real Love.  The A Team also includes G1 Winterbottom Stakes aspirant Shining Knight and G2 WA Guineas hopeful Perfect Reflection.

He will evaluate whether there are any support acts among his winners on Saturday.  Universal Law (Beneteau) began the five-timer and he was followed by Mississippian (Oratorio), Special Delivery (Testa Rossa), Neverland (Big Brown) and Illuminated (Medaglia D’Oro).

Mississippian (4g Oratorio – Mississippi Belle by Marooned) can graduate to black-type after an awesome victory in the Content Living Homes Hcp (1100m).  He was spotting Full Clip 10 lengths on the corner but cut the front-runner down to score by a short-head.

“I didn’t think he could get there,” Peters said.  “The leader got his own way in front and 1100m was probably a bit short for our horse.  He looked really good letting down with those four white legs and blaze.”

Like the majority of stock sporting cerise and white silks, Mississippian is beautifully bred being a younger half-brother to G1 Railway Stakes winner Elite Belle (Canny Lad) and LR Pinjarra Cup winner Battle Emblem (Second Empire).

Their dam Mississippi Belle has a 2yo filly named Mississippi Delta (High Chaparral) and a yearling colt by Pierro.

Mississippian is by champion sire Oratorio (Stravinsky) who stands at Mungrup Stud for an $11,000 (inc gst) fee.
