Wadham Park trainer Dale Sutton maintained his winning streak with Magic Millions graduates when Flash O’Brilliance saluted for the first time at Bendigo on Thursday.

Flash O’Brilliance (3g Royal Academy – Sweet Thunder by Thunder Gulch) had over a length to spare in the Horses Birthday Celebrations Maiden (1600m).  He was a bargain $27,000 buy out of the Raheen Stud draft at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions Summer yearling sale.

Sutton has prepared three Magic Millions winners in the last 10 days.  General Calm (General Nediym) started the ball rolling at Geelong last Tuesday and Rock Of Tara (Rock Of Gibraltar) joined in at Ballarat on Sunday.  

Sutton’s tally from the Magic Millions is 37 non-metro winners so far this season.  He has a winning break in that category over Toowoomba based Mark Webb for the inaugural Magic Millions trainers’ title.  

Raheen studmaster Basil Nolan bred Flash O’Brilliance from Moonee Valley winner Sweet Thunder.  The dam was also stakes placed in Tasmania when trained by the late Tony Wildman.  Sweet Thunder has a yearling filly and a weanling colt by Excites and she was covered by Bradbury’s Luck last year.

Sutton’s winning treble has kept Wadham Park ticking over in readiness for an exciting season in 2010-11.

Sutton is about to get cracking with the first crop of youngsters by G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Econsul.  He is by Pins and stands at Woodside Park which is the breeding arm of Wadham Park.  

Former Toll Holdings chairman Peter Rowsthorn spared no expense developing both properties and the results are beginning to filter through led by stable flag-bearer La Rocket.

La Rocket (Rock Of Gibraltar) first came under notice when a Listed winner of the Spring Classic at Seymour last year.  He grabbed a Group 2 in the St George Stakes at Caulfield but an injury restricted his autumn campaign to just three starts.

“La Rocket is back in work and is coming along nicely,” Sutton said at Bendigo yesterday.  “He should be ready to resume in the Memsie next month.”
The Group 2 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield is the traditional starting point for spring hopefuls and is scheduled for August 28.
