The phone has been running hot at Cambridge Stud since Monday’s announcement that Stravinsky would be returning on the shuttle from Japan for the 2009 season.
“In the space of just 48 hours Stravinsky is already 50% booked out,” Sir Patrick Hogan said this morning. Cambridge Stud will send 20 to 25 of its own mares to Stravinsky.
Stravinsky was the most profitable stallion from the 2009 yearling sale round in the $40,000 to $20,000 service fee bracket. His overall average across the Australasian sales series was $137,163, representing 4.9 times his service fee when the yearlings were conceived.
