Leading Victorian agent Peter Ford has several irons in the fire for the Melbourne spring carnival and he also weighed in with two winners in Hong Kong during September.
Multimax (Court Command) won first-up at Sha Tin to improve his record to 5 wins and earnings the equivalent of AUD 646,075. Ford sold him to trainer Tony Cruz for $42,000 at the 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier acting for Hillside Thoroughbreds owners Peter and Areti Arvanitis
Ford’s latest Sha Tin winner House Of Fun (Starcraft) is prepared by John Size for the Fun Loving Syndicate. He had purchased the gelding’s Group 2 winning dam Freestyle as a broodmare prospect for $43,000 at the 2012 Inglis Easter Bloodstock Sale.
House Of Fun was known as Wenden in Australia after making $68,000 at the 2014 Melbourne Premier. He won a Cranbourne trial for Price Bloodstock prior to shipping off-shore in August 2015.
Perth visitor Whispering Brook (Hinchinbrook) is Ford’s spearhead at the spring carnival with the G1 Thousand Guineas her main target in Melbourne. He bought her USA-bred dam Artful Whisper (Machiavellian) for 62,000gns (AUD 102,100) on behalf of Hillside Thoroughbreds at Tattersalls in November 2005.
Whispering Brook was a $45,000 buy from Hillside as a foal at the 2014 Magic Millions National Sale. Unbeaten in the west highlighted by a Group 2 in the Karrakatta Plate, she was nailed a nose first-up in the LR Atlantic Jewel Stakes at Moonee Valley earlier this month.
Ford also bought G1 Victorian Oaks hopeful So Distinct (So You Think) for $60,000 at the 2015 Inglis Premier. He purchased her from Rosemont Stud on behalf of trainer Robbie Griffiths.
So Distinct is from a sister to 2012 Victorian Oaks placegetters Summerbliss and she looked a nice staying prospect winning a Mornington maiden at cricket-score odds earlier this week.
