A day after Frankel was crowned Cartier Horse of the Year for the second time, it has been announced his first season service fee will be 125,000 pounds (AUD 190,450).
“The fee for Frankel reflects his merits as being perhaps the greatest racehorse we have ever witnessed,” Juddmonte Farms general manager Philip Mitchell said. “He is by the best sire in the world in Galileo and his dam is a stakes winning daughter of Danehill who is one of the most influential stallions in the history of the thoroughbred.”
Frankel left Sir Henry Cecil’s Warren Place stables last week to join the stallion roster at Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor Stud to begin his new career in February.
The 125,000 pounds price tag makes him the world’s third most expensive stallion. Galileo is reported to cost the equivalent of 240,000 pounds at Coolmore Ireland and Fastnet Rock stands for the equivalent of 144,350 pounds at Coolmore Australia.
Juddmonte declined to disclose how many mares Frankel will cover in his opening season.
