Fresh start for Magondo

Trotamondo filly Magondo resumed a winner in the Carey Constructions Ltd Hcp (1000m) at Gosford on Thursday.  The Albert Stapleford trainee had also won first-up at Scone when starting her previous prep in April.

Magondo (3f Trotamondo – Magdalena by Snaadee) had been placed on debut at Gosford in January and then ran third to top filly Later Gator at Canterbury in February.  She joins the Guy Walter prepared Santiago who is a last-start Canberra winner from just 8 to the races by Trotamondo.

Magondo was a $15,000 buy for Stapleford from Yarraman Park at the 2011 Inglis Scone Select Sale.  The veteran Central Coast conditioner also prepared Yarraman Park’s stakes winning sire Magic Albert.

Her dam Magdalena won the Listed WATC Burgess Queen Stakes and was runner-up in the G2 WA Oaks in 1997-98.  The mare had already foaled the stakes performers Cheerful Master and Purrpurrlena by deceased Yarraman sire Catbird.  And she delivered a filly by Yarraman sire I Am Invincible last year.

Trotamondo (Hussonet) was 2005 Chilean Horse-Of-The-Year after winning their 3YO Triple Crown.  He also won the G3 Native Diver Stakes at Hollywood Park at his second run after a year on the sidelines.

Yarraman Park is standing Trotamondo for a $5,500(inc gst) fee this year.
