Rangeview Stud stallion Galah has won the WA second-season premiership for 2018-19 after a drawn-out duel with Playing God.

Galah ($901,502) defeated the Mungrup Stud resident by $3,000 giving some solace to Rangeview owners Rob and Jody Gray following the sad loss of Demerit.

He clinched the title when Pink and Purple won the Magic Millions Race Series Hcp (1760m) in Kalgoorlie last Sunday.  Piloted by champion jockey William Pike, she scored by two lengths from All Man (All Too Hard) and Perceptive Miss (Blackfriars).

The Luke Fernie-trained 3yo filly was a $7,000 graduate from the 2017 Perth Magic Millions.

Pink and Purple had won a Goldfields maiden in June for owner Jessica Valas.  Her dam Lavender Lane (Red Ransom) is a half-sister to Peters Investments stakes winner Cohort and the mare’s new-season yearling is a colt by King’s Troop.

Galah also led the wins and winners second-season table (20 – 27) from Playing God (15 – 24) and My Admiration (13 – 22).  Chief earner during his premiership season was High Range, a two-time Ascot winner in April for a syndicate that includes Rangeview Stud.  Trainer Vern Brockman declared he will develop into a very smart 3yo this season.

A Group 2 winning sprinter for trainers Peter & Paul Snowden, Galah is by champion sire of sires Redoute’s Choice from G1 Australasian Oaks winner Rinky Dink (Distorted Humor).  He stands at Rangeview for a $4,400 service fee with So Secret ($2,750).
