Darley sire Commands maintained a narrow lead over Redoute’s Choice on the 2009-10 Australian sires’ premiership table in the winners category when Imperial Command won the Rex Gorell Volkswagen Maiden (1200m) at Geelong on Tuesday.

Commands has now sired 135 individual winners in Australia this season to give him a one-win advantage over Redoute’s Choice (134).

Imperial Command (3g Commands – Silver Jubilee by Quest For Fame) was racing first-up after a 25 week spell yesterday.  He had been placed at all three starts during his first campaign at Ballarat, Moonee Valley and Sandown in December – January.

Trained by Mark Kavanagh for a Slade Syndicate, Imperial Command is one of three winners to date for Silver Jubilee.  Among them is Commands gelding Fixed Bayonets who was a 3YO maiden winner at Canterbury.  He also claimed the 2009 Corowa Cup.

Silver Jubilee was a Caulfield winner for Sir Rupert Clarke.  She is a half-sister to Cannibal King (Clear Choice) who was a G3 winner of the MVRC C S Hayes Stakes and Listed VATC Vain Stakes.  Silver Jubilee has a 2yo colt and a weanling colt by God’s Own and was covered by Magnus last year.  

Commands is finishing the season in style.  He started the Flemington meeting last Saturday with a running double thanks to Soul and Servant.  Brasileira made it a city treble on the day when she scored at Randwick.

Commands has now sired 410 winners world-wide at an amazing 68% winners-to-runners strike-rate. He will stand for a $66,000 (inc gst) service fee at Darley’s Kelvinside property in 2010.
