Peter Snowden is mob-handed on Thursday and his interstate team could quite easily combine to win a half-dozen races at Kyneton and the Canterbury night meeting. Darley’s private trainer can start the day on a winning note at Kyneton with Genial in the NMIT Maiden Plate (Race 1 at 1.00pm AEDT).
Genial (3g Viscount – Graphics by Sir Laurence) signalled an early win last time out at Kyneton a fortnight ago when he finished third to Eternal Sunshine and Danaupair Starlet over 1200m.
Danaupair Starlet franked the form next time out. So much so, she earned our vote as Maiden winner of the Day at Warrnambool on Monday.
Genial is a half-brother to 5 winners including the Adelaide 2yo Listed winner Quarterman (Strategic). Their dam Graphics was a Woodlands homebred who scored on debut at Sale and added further wins at Warwick Farm (2) and Rosehill.
The family traces directly back to Woodlands favourite Sweet Embrace (Todman). She was the first Group 1 winner for Jack and Bob Ingham in the 1967 Golden Slipper.
Genial will be ridden by Mark Zahra who was aboard Incitement at the Bendigo twilight meeting last Thursday. He was our Bred To Win tip but was nailed in the last stride by Adamon.
It wasn’t Zahra’s fault. He did everything except jump off and carry Incitement over the line!
