Geraldton Horse of the Year

Demerit gelding Anisau has won the Geraldton Horse of the Year award for 2017-18.

Trained locally by Murray Sharp for the Kazmer family, he won 3 races and was placed 5 times in 9 starts at Utakarra Racecourse during the season.

Anisau won a Kalgoorlie maiden and a Belmont Class 1 before transferring north last year.  His older half-brother Big Jack (Due Sasso) also won at Belmont and his yearling half-sister by Universal Ruler is on the books with Brett Pope.

Their dam Typhoon Fille (Metal Storm) was bred by Mungrup Stud and won a Pinjarra maiden for Neville Parnham and Oz Racing.  Further back, she hails from a Heytesbury Stud family headlined by Pashenka’s Gem (Haulpak) who won a G3 Magic Night Stakes before finishing fourth in the G1 Golden Slipper won by Inspired.

Demerit gelding Double Digit won a Class 5 Mile at the Geraldton Cup meeting on April 15 for Lancelin trainer Ash Maley.  He’s an older brother to stakes winning 2yo filly Agent Pippa.

She’s Got Merit can win another juvenile city race for Demerit at Ascot this Wednesday.  She will be racing second-up after a summer campaign that included an eye-catching second to Nocelle on Winterbottom Stakes day.

Demerit (Lonhro) stands with King’s Troop (Redoute’s Choice) at Taunton Vale and studmaster Kent Johnston will shortly announce their service fees for 2018.
