Girls Day Out first winner by Long Leaf

Rangeview Stud resident Long Leaf sired his first winner on Sunday when Girls Day Out landed the De Bortoli Winemakers Maiden (1100m) on debut at Northam.

The 3yo first-crop daughter of Long Leaf was given time to find her feet by Luke Campbell while Red Autumn (Foxwedge) and the favourite God’s Gate (Playing God) went hammer and tong out in front.

Campbell sent Girls Day Out scouting wide in the straight and she levelled up with the leaders to score going away by a length to the roar of an excited Ladies Syndicate that includes the Hot Frocking Divas!

Trainer Dan Morton bought Girls Day Out for $85,000 from Ruby Racing & Breeding at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions.  She was catalogued as agent for Ross Price and her dam Radiant Diva (Lonhro) is an unraced half-sister to G3 VRC Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) winner Our Joan Of Arc (Beautiful Crown).

Radiant Diva also foaled provincial winner Wozzeck (War Chant) for owners Frank and May Edwards earlier in her stud career.  Her final foal is a 2yo colt by Gingerbread Man named Ginger Zinger who is also owned by the Claremont couple.

Long Leaf (Fastnet Rock) was trained by David Hayes for 2yo victories in the LR Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) and LR Merson-Cooper Stakes (1000m) in Melbourne.  The Lindsay Park team kept the bar high the following season when Long Leaf crossed the Tasman to claim the LR Karaka 3YO Mile (1600m) at Ellerslie.

Long Leaf stands for a $5,500 (inc GST) service fee and Rangeview Stud owner Robbie Gray can be contacted for bookings or more information on 0409 243 461.
