Sheikh Mohammed has added promising filly Long Lashes to his recent string of high-profile purchases.
Long Lashes (2f Rock Hard Ten – Border Dispute by Boundary) was bred in America by leading trainer Nick Zito and won the Listed Balanchine Stakes at the Curragh on debut in June.
Godolphin’s recent buys include G1 English 2000 Guineas runner-up Delegator (Dansili), G3 Horris Hill Stakes winner Evasive (Elusive Quality) and flying American filly Jealous Again (Trippi) who won the G2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Long Lashes is entered for the G2 Debutante Stakes at Leopardstown on August 6 but she may be put away for the UAE Guineas and UAE Oaks at Meydan next year.
Long Lashes is from the first-crop of Kentucky based sire Rock Hard Ten who stands Lane’s End Farm. He was a G1 winner of the 2004 Malibu Stakes and 2005 Santa Anita Handicap and was also runner-up to Smarty Jones in the G1 Preakness Stakes.
Rock Hard Ten (Kris S.) is out of G1 Prix Morny winner Tersa (Mr Prospector) and is closely related to Australian G3 winner All American.
Another of Tersa’s foals is the Strawberry Road mare Milva who was imported to Australia in May 2000. She is the dam All American who was sold to Arrowfield Stud after winning the Skyline Stakes in March 2008.
All American (Red Ransom) has failed to salute in 13 starts since the Skyline. The Lindsay park colt was last seen finishing fifth to Yallingup in the G3 Sir Frank Packer Plate at Randwick in April.
