The Aushorse Golden Horseshoe Series got off to a flying start in Singapore on Sunday.  

The Inglis Melbourne Juvenile Stakes was the first juvenile event for the season and is also the opening leg of a seven race series that culminates with the G2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe on May 20.

In addition to the S$75,000 prizemoney, the event carried a S$25,000 Bonus for Australian bred horses that were sold by series partners Inglis or Magic Millions.

Kaiser (2g Seidnazar – One Wink by Last Tycoon) is one of six two-year-olds that Theo Kieser has in training and he specifically targeted the opening two-year-old race of the year.

“I knew there wouldn’t be a lot of entries and that there was also a $25,000 bonus up for grabs,” Kieser said.  “All my two-year-olds have come out of Australia so we’ll see how they come up for some of the other races in the series.”

Kaiser was initially sold by Riverdene Stud for $11,000 at the 2010 Inglis Classic yearling sale.  He was later picked up on behalf of Singapore based Gryphon Stable for $80,000 at the 2010 Magic Millions 2YO HIT Sale.

Kaiser’s sire Seidnazar (Rory’s Jester) originally stood in Wagga but was transferred to Queensland after the dispersal of Riverdene in 2010.

Banchory Thoroughbreds owners Richard and Mary Lee Trivett now stand him at their historic Darling Downs property.  They raced Seidnazar to a Listed victory in the MVRC St Albans Stakes on the same day Savabeel won the Cox Plate.  He was also runner-up to Undoubtedly in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes.

“Australia is well known for producing precocious sprinter-milers that excel here in Asia,” Inglis rep Peter Twomey said.  “The Golden Horseshoe Series is a great incentive for Singapore owners and trainers to keep supporting our sales.”
