The Bold One (NZ) will cover his first book at Grangewilliam Stud in New Zealand this year.
“He’s a lovely-looking horse and we never saw the best of him,” studmaster Mark Corcoran said. “I was approached to stand him and then I had a talk to trainer Allan Sharrock. He convinced me The Bold One was the right stallion for Grangewilliam.
“He’s got a fantastic pedigree and in his first four dams there are three Broodmares of the Year – The Pixie in 1981, The Fantasy in 1994 and The Grin in 2003. His family is full of top dam-sires O’Reilly, Grosvenor, Noble Bijou, Mellay and Kurdistan.”
The Bold One (NZ) is a son of the champion stallion Fastnet Rock and Group 1 winner The Jewel (NZ 1000 Guineas & Waikato International). He won 4 from 14 starts and earned black-type when third in the LR Levin Stakes.
“He is by the best sire and is a gorgeous horse,” Sharrock said. “He was very talented and I thought he was a Group 1 horse in the making.”
The Bold One will stand in the central districts, south of Wanganui, at Grangewilliam Stud. He will join Zed, Haradasun and Dial A Prayer on the roster at a $2,000 (plus gst).
