Group 1 beckons My Emotion

My Emotion is on-course for a Group 1 after winning the G2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic on Friday night.  Trainer Mick Kent has always rated the Savabeel filly highly and revealed she will be set for the SAJC Australasian Oaks at Morphettville on March 20.

My Emotion (2f Savabeel – Midnight Rock by Rory’s Jester) finished powerfully to defeat Speedy Natalie (Al Maher) and Aloha (Encosta de Lago).  “The Valley suits her,” Kent explained.  “She was strong at the end of a mile and we will head her to Adelaide.”

The NZ bred filly won on debut in the G3 TBV Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) on Super Saturday at Flemington last March.  Kent put her away for a short spring preparation and she returned to win first-up at Moonee Valley on Feehan Stakes day.  Her grand final was in the G1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield but she blew the start and was never in the call.

This time in, My Emotion finished right behind the placegetters in two sighters over 1200m at Caulfield before breaking through at the Valley.

Craig Williams, who partnered My Emotion to her first victory and was on board again last night, said she will keep improving.  “I have a lot of time for this filly,” Williams said.  “She will be very tough to beat in Adelaide.”

Sold for $230,000 at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale, My Emotion is by the Cox Plate winning sire Savabeel and is the first foal for the Rory’s Jester mare Midnight Rock.

Only lightly raced, Midnight Rock is a half sister to the Mick Price trained Aloha (Encosta de Lago), who set the pace and held on for third placing last night.

My Emotion’s third dam Tennessee Morn (Bletchingly) was a precocious juvenile who won the G2 VRC Maribrynong Plate, G3 Blue Diamond Prelude and the Listed Maribrynong Trial.
