All Too Hard sprinter Far Too Easy has served notice he’s a horse to be reckoned with during the winter carnival in Brisbane.
Owner-trainer David McColm declared the $700,000 BTC Cup (1300m) and $3 million Stradbroke Hcp (1400m) are Group 1 goals after watching Far Too Easy power home for a first-up victory in the MEKKA Festival Hcp (1110m) at Doomben on Saturday.
“He’s a more mature horse now and he’s had a hassle-free prep this time in without any setbacks,” Murwillumbah-based McColm said. “It wasn’t ideal with the floods last year. He was in and out of work and we had to move to Scone.
“We knew he was going to be something else after winning his first two starts at Grafton and he just kept getting better and better. He has that X-Factor and we’re looking to boost his rating in the ATC Cup (LR, 1200m) at the Sunshine Coast in a fortnight.”
McColm is hoping that segues into the BTC Cup (Gr.1, 1300m) at Eagle Farm on May 27 and the Stradbroke Hcp (Gr.1, 1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 10.
Far Too Easy was bred and sold by Baramul Stud’s Gerry Harvey at the Gold Coast Magic Millions – just like All Too Hard’s 2022 Stradbroke winner Alligator Blood. He has banked $881,300 off a $55,000 price-tag helped by a $400,000 pay-day when runner-up in last year’s The Kosciuszko (1200m) at Randwick.
His dam Mnemonic (Hussonet) has also foaled All Too Hard’s Singapore’s Queen Elizabeth II Cup (LR, 1800m) winner Hard Too Think and their yearling brother was a $280,000 buy for Dennys Chan (Golden River Investments) at the 2022 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
All Too Hard will stand for an unchanged $38,500 service fee at Vinery this year alongside Ole Kirk ($55,000), Exceedance ($33,000), Star Turn ($27,500), Headwater ($13,200) and Casino Prince ($5,500). All fees include GST and are payable on a live foal. For bookings or further information, contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
