Group 1 goals for Sabatini

Seymour based filly Sabatini will be set for a Group 1 campaign after an impressive first up victory in the G3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Trainer Shannon Hope said the Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington and Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill are among the targets for the daughter of deceased champion Street Cry.

“There’s nothing set in concrete,” Hope said.  “She might go to the Angus Armanasco Stakes in a fortnight but we will just see how she comes through this run.”

Sabatini (3f Street Cry – Royal Sash by Royal Academy) sprinted quickly when clicked up by Nick Hall to score by nearly two lengths from Royal Snitzel (Snitzel) and Fontein Ruby (Turffontein).

It followed her first black-type victory in the G3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield in August.

Sabatini is a homebred for Alpara Lodge owners Greg and Jenny White.  “She seems to have come back in really good form,” Hope added.  “She’s very tough and thrives on racing and she’s still got plenty of improvement left in her.”
